MBMAN is involved in different community development outreach activities, working underprivileged and disadvantage Groups. Some of these activities are being managed through internal resources and external support is being accessed for some other activities. The major activities are as follows:
As a regular program, MBMAN organizes short term vocational and Skill based training in various subjects. These training are targeted to the high school drop-out youths, for improving their livelihood by increasing their capacity and access to the available opportunities. The program has trained more than 1200 participants. These trainings are conducted by using internal funds as well as the support from different partner organizations. Among them, more than 80% graduates are estimated to be in wage and self employment. This is considered as a major break through of the academy.

MBMAN is running “Community Empowerment for Livelihood Program” for poor and disadvantage people, in partnership with Action Aid Nepal (AAN). The major activities include REFLECT Circle, Child Literacy Class, formation and mobilization of Child Clubs, Women’s Groups and as well as groups of Senior citizens. The program has initiated integration of livestock development and breed improvement for ensuring livelihood of such disadvantaged community. This program covers Sundarpur, Dulari, Indrapur and Bayarban VDCs of Morang District and Lakhanpur VDC Jhapa and Damak Municipality . Action Aid Nepal is the major partner of the program.
Transfer of Technology has been one of the major components of the interventions of MBMAN. It has started Intensive Livestock Development Project, for capacity building and technology transfer of small livestock farmers. In partnership with HEIFER International Nepal, this project covers Pathari, Letang, Ithara VDCs in Morang and Topgachi VDC of Jhapa districts. It covers capacity building as major activity followed by the establishment of livestock breeding units, farmer to farmer gift of livestock and mobilization of saving and credit groups, linkage with milk cooperative and its capacity building and market linkage.
In collaboration with the District Livestock Service Offices of Morang and Jhapa districts MBMAN is running Intergraded Livestock Development Campaign in the east-west highway corridor of the Mai River (Jhapa) to Budhi River (Morang). The objective is to develop fodder farming, and herbal production in the community forests, and improve local breeds for optimal productivity, capacity building of farmers cooperatives, milk cooperatives.
With the main objective of Commercialization of Agriculture Products this campaign has been started in 27 VDCs of Morang district towards north of Sunsari – Morang Irrigation system. All these fall outside the command area of the irrigation project. The support of this campaign will help sustenance agriculture develop into commercial agriculture, by exploring all local potentials. This includes growing high value crops potential to the area. The preliminary consultations in the VDC and second consultation round at the level of service centers has been completed and several potential areas have been identified.
MBMAN has envisioned promotion on establishment of model villages, selecting from the different geographical terrain, namely Dhungesanghu ( Taplejung), Itahara and Urlabari (Morang) and Khuduna bari (Jhapa) . The selected three places are related with Madan Bhandari, the former two are the places, where Madan Bhandari was born and where he was active respectively, the third is a place, Urlabari VDC,where Head Office of MBMAN is located at and fourth place is related to martyrs of Nepal. MBMAN has aim to establish a healthy, wealthy and beautiful village with developing entrepreneurship at agriculture and technical education that pave the way to permanently solution of existing problems in the community. In the initial period program of model village campaign has been intervention in three selective areas. As well as MBMAN is facilitating different VDC of Nepal to develop Model Village.
Academy has offered Education Loan Scheme for those interested youth, especially from the poor and disadvantage groups for their Technical Education and vocational skill based training to 220 numbers of beneficiaries /students. It is based on educational loan on pass on scheme so that next person can acquire the scholarship.
MBMAN has internalized and is considering planning to initiate e-community centers for technology transfer and extension in the rural community. It will include e-learning, digital library, e-mail and internet facility in the respective course of technical education. It has included Computer Education Program in the running technical education programs. MBMAN has extend community ICT centers with the facilities of wireless internet broadband connection in Ithara. And it is planning to extend it different model village with the partnership with different organization. Nepal Telephone is providing NTSAT (VSAT) for the extension of ICT center to minimize digital divide and enhancement of livelihood of rural community through information and communication technology.
MBMAN started to preserve Madan’s philosophy and other materials related to his memory. It is also making arrangements to publish photographs and memoirs of Madan Bhandari. It has developed a Madan Memorial Section in the head office, to preserve all available materials related to his memory and to make further research on his life and ideology.
A house in Itahara, where Madan lived, has been renovated to sustain his memory and two publications titled “Madan Bhandari Smrithi Grantha” (Life story of Madan) and “Tasbir Ma Madan Bhandari” (Madan Bhandari in Pictures) has already published. MBMAN also has initiated on development of Children’s park and Madan Bhandari Memorial Park and is on process of developing infrastructure to the above community bases causes.
